Practical support built around your requirements
AvantVero combines ISO 45001 management-system requirements with practical Australian WHS controls so the system works both in the audit room and in day-to-day operations.
Current-scope note: AvantVero confirms the current applicable ISO 45001 requirements and relevant Australian WHS obligations at project commencement. ISO and legal compliance are related, but they are not the same thing.
Key areas
Hazard & risk management
Identify hazards, assess WHS risks and implement the hierarchy of controls.
Worker consultation
Build practical consultation and participation processes into the system.
Operational planning
Control high-risk activities, contractors, changes, procurement and outsourced work.
Incident management
Report, investigate, correct and learn from incidents and nonconformities.
Emergency preparedness
Plan, test and review emergency arrangements appropriate to the workplace.
Leadership & assurance
Set responsibilities, objectives, audits, reviews and corrective-action processes.
WHS law and ISO are related but not identical
WHS law and ISO are related but not identical: ISO 45001 is a management-system standard. Australian WHS duties are created and enforced through applicable Commonwealth, state and territory laws. The system should be designed to support applicable legal duties as well as ISO requirements.
Implementation approach
WHS and ISO gap review
Assess current WHS practices and management-system evidence.
System development
Close documentation and governance gaps without duplicating workable site controls.
Operational implementation
Apply the system to real work, contractors, risk assessments, SWMS and incidents.
Audit readiness
Complete internal audit, management review and corrective actions.
ISO 45001 and your existing WHS system
Many organisations already have safety procedures, risk registers, SWMS, incident forms and consultation arrangements before considering ISO 45001. AvantVero can review those controls against ISO 45001 rather than replacing useful material.
Typical project outputs
Support may include the OH&S management-system scope, consultation and participation arrangements, hazard and risk processes, legal and other requirements, contractor controls, incident and corrective-action processes, objectives, monitoring, internal audit and management review.
Where Australian WHS legislation imposes requirements beyond the ISO framework, those requirements must be addressed separately and in the relevant jurisdiction.
ISO 45001 FAQ
Is ISO 45001 the same as complying with WHS law?
No. ISO 45001 is a management-system standard. Australian WHS legal duties, regulations and adopted codes must be considered separately in the relevant jurisdiction.
Can our current WHS procedures be used?
Yes, where they are suitable and implemented. AvantVero can map existing WHS controls against ISO 45001 and identify only the gaps.
Does ISO 45001 require consultation with workers?
Worker consultation and participation are central to the standard and also interact with Australian WHS consultation duties. The exact arrangements should fit the workplace and legal context.
