Practical support built around your requirements
AvantVero supports head contractor builders through the Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme journey – from initial readiness and WHS management-system alignment through live-site implementation, audit preparation and ongoing accreditation maintenance.
Current-scope note: FSC/OFSC is retained as a specialist supporting service within the AvantVero service portfolio. It is not the primary positioning of the AvantVero website.
End-to-end accreditation support
1. Eligibility & readiness assessment
Clarify whether the Scheme is relevant to the work being pursued and assess the organisation’s starting point.
2. FSC gap analysis
Map the current WHS management system and site practices against the applicable Scheme audit criteria.
3. WHS management-system review
Review policies, procedures, governance, responsibilities, consultation, risk controls and records.
4. System development or upgrade
Develop or strengthen the procedures, registers, forms and evidence needed to close identified gaps.
5. Project and site implementation
Embed the system on a live project so requirements can be demonstrated in practice.
6. High-risk work & SWMS controls
Review planning, review and supervision arrangements for high-risk construction work and SWMS.
7. Contractor management
Strengthen selection, onboarding, monitoring, consultation, verification and corrective-action controls.
8. Incident & corrective-action systems
Improve reporting, investigation, root cause, action tracking and verification of effectiveness.
9. Mock FSC audit
Test the management system, site implementation and evidence before the formal OFSC audit.
What the official audit framework tests
What this covers
WHS management-system criteria
How the organisation’s WHS system is structured, governed and implemented.
Focus-point criteria
Specific areas selected within the Scheme audit framework.
Hazard criteria
How relevant construction hazards and high-risk activities are controlled in practice.
Ongoing FSC accreditation maintenance
Accreditation is an ongoing obligation rather than a one-off project. AvantVero can provide a separate maintenance service to help keep the system current, prepare for ongoing audits and manage recurring Scheme reporting requirements.
Maintenance support can include biannual report preparation support, internal compliance reviews, corrective-action tracking, project implementation reviews, document updates, audit preparation and reaccreditation readiness.
Important Scheme point
Important Scheme point: Formal applications and accreditation decisions are managed through the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner. AvantVero provides consultancy and readiness support and does not make the accreditation decision.
FSC / OFSC questions
Is a documented WHS system enough?
No. The Scheme requires businesses to demonstrate that the system is genuinely implemented on a live construction project and that relevant hazards and high-risk activities are being controlled.
Do accredited companies have ongoing reporting obligations?
Yes. The Scheme includes ongoing reporting and audit obligations. AvantVero can help organise the systems and evidence needed to manage these requirements.
Can AvantVero help after nonconformances are raised?
Yes. Support can include root-cause analysis, corrective-action planning, evidence updates and implementation checks before follow-up verification.
When FSC/OFSC support is relevant
This service is intended for construction businesses that have a genuine Scheme requirement or are assessing whether accreditation is commercially relevant. AvantVero does not position FSC/OFSC as a default requirement for every construction client.
The scope should be confirmed against the current OFSC guidance, the company’s role, projects and procurement requirements before significant system development begins.
