Practical support built around your requirements
Where an organisation needs more than one standard, a coordinated management system can combine common governance processes while keeping standard-specific controls clear.
Processes that can often be integrated
Context & interested parties
One structured view with standard-specific needs where required.
Risks & opportunities
Coordinated planning with separate risk methods where necessary.
Documented information
One controlled system for policies, procedures and records.
Competence & communication
Shared processes with role-specific requirements.
Internal audits
One programme covering multiple standards and business processes.
Management review
One review framework with all required inputs and outputs.
Integration should simplify – not hide requirements
An effective IMS removes duplication but still allows an auditor and the business to identify how each applicable requirement is addressed. AvantVero can restructure multiple disconnected systems or design an integrated framework from the outset.
Typical combinations
QHSE
ISO 9001 + ISO 14001 + ISO 45001.
Quality + Security
ISO 9001 + ISO/IEC 27001.
ISO + FSC/WHS
Use common WHS governance while retaining the specific evidence needed for FSC/OFSC Scheme criteria.
When integration makes sense
Integration is particularly effective when the same people manage quality, environmental and WHS responsibilities, the business uses common project processes, or multiple certifications are audited together.
An IMS should not force every requirement into one document. The objective is to share genuinely common processes while retaining standard-specific controls where needed.
Common shared processes
Document control, competence, objectives, internal audit, management review, corrective action, risk-based planning, supplier controls and change management can often be coordinated across standards.
Integrated management system FAQ
Which standards are most commonly integrated?
ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are commonly combined. ISO/IEC 27001 can also share governance processes while retaining information-security-specific risk and control requirements.
Will an IMS reduce the number of audits?
It can simplify internal audit planning and may support coordinated external audits, but the certification body’s audit programme and time remain subject to its rules and the organisation’s scope.
Should every procedure be integrated?
No. Integration is useful where processes genuinely overlap. Standard-specific controls should stay separate when that makes responsibilities and evidence clearer.
